SUMMARY:Homebuying 100: Introduction to Homebuying (December 2024)
DESCRIPTION:Homebuying 100 is an introduction to the homebuying process that will help participants evaluate if homeownership is a good option for them. Participants will learn how to compare the net benefit of renting versus buying and become aware of the considerations of becoming a homeowner\, beyond just the potential mortgage payment. This abbreviated course is for anyone wondering if homeownership might be feasible for them but is not yet ready or able to commit to a full first-time homebuyer class. SUMMARY:December 2024 Homebuying 101 (BHC & Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Allston Brighton CDC is partnering with the Boston Home Center to host a virtual Homebuying 101 class on the following dates: \nTuesday\, December 10th @ 5-8PM\nWednesday\, December 11th @ 5-8PM\nThursday\, December 12th @ 5-8PM \nEach class will be a Zoom Webinar.  \nFunding for these services is provided by the City of Boston through its Department of Neighborhood Development\, Michelle Wu\, Mayor\, Sheila A. Dillon\, Chief and Director. Classes designated as Boston Home Center are classes targeted towards City of Boston residents\, although anyone can register for these classes. They will include presentations and information regarding Boston-specific homebuying programs\, in addition to the standard content presented in every Homebuying 101 class. Fees for Boston Home Center classes are $30 per City of Boston resident and $45 per non-resident. \nHomebuying 101 is a 9-hour course\, covered over 3 sessions. Topics covered include: \n\nBudgeting\, Savings & Credit\nObtaining a Mortgage\nHousing Search\nThe Legal Aspects of Buying a Home\nHome Inspection\nHome Insurance\nDown Payment Assistance Programs\n\nGraduates of this course receive a certificate that grants access to down payment assistance\, Mass Housing Partnership’s ONE Mortgage\, MassHousing mortgages\, HUD mortgages\, home ownership lotteries\, and lender first time homebuyer mortgages. The certificate is accepted statewide for first time homebuyer education and is valid for 3 years. \nYou must attend all three sessions in order to receive your certificate of completion. By taking this class you also have access to unlimited one-on-one pre-purchase counseling sessions at Allston Brighton CDC to assist you through your personal homebuying experience. \n\n    \n    \n    \n    \n        \n\n    \n\n    \n    \n    \n    \n    \n\n\n\n    \n            \n          \n\n          \n          ABCDC is not running any upcoming Boston Home Center (BHC) classes. DESCRIPTION:This workshop goes in-depth into the assistance programs available in Massachusetts to help first time homebuyers purchase a home. Answers to questions such as what programs are available\, who is eligible\, how to apply for and layer programs will be explored. This is an expanded discussion of the landscape of homebuying assistance in Massachusetts and anyone is welcome to attend\, whether or not you’ve already graduated from a first-time homebuyer class.
