We recently came across pictures of the Ashford Street Lodging House before it was renovated back in 1993. This Victorian home on Ashford Street in Allston is an ABCDC-owned property with twelve units of housing. Originally opened to house individuals impacted by the AIDS crisis, we now provide individuals with disabilities and formerly homeless individuals with safe, permanent housing.
We are excited to announce that DHCD recently awarded Allston Brighton CDC with nearly $800,000 in funding to complete much-needed capital repairs. Through this project, we will install a completely new handicap accessible ramp, replace the roof, install new fresh air circulation systems throughout, and update the kitchens and bathrooms. In addition, the first-floor kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room will be renovated to ensure they are fully accessible. We hope to start on these renovations soon so stay tuned for more updates.
We are extremely grateful for this support to ensure that these 12 tenants have access to a safe and accessible place to call home!
