Today, Mayor Michelle Wu visited Brian J. Honan apartments to announce an award of funds to ABCDC through the City of Boston’s new Large Building Green Energy Retrofits Program to help improve this affordable housing site. Mayor Wu also used the event to announce the City’s ordinance to adopt the Department of Energy Resources’ Municipal Opt-in Specialized Stretch Energy Code. ABCDC is pleased to be an early recipient of this new funding to help us preserve and enhance the Brian J. Honan Apartments in Allston.
The Allston Brighton CDC team has made a commitment to pursuing green technologies at our properties to not only reduce the environmental impact of development, but to create healthy and safe housing for our residents. We would like to thank Mayor Wu and The City of Boston for making these new and important resources available which will ensure that deeply affordable housing can provide high-quality homes to residents for generations to come.
We would also like to thank everyone who attended the event and reiterated their commitment towards affordable housing and climate resiliency including Sheila Dillon, Rev. Mariama White-Hammond, Oliver Sellers-Garcia, City Councilor Liz Breadon, City Councilor Kendra Lara, City Councilor Kenzie Bok, and State Rep. Kevin Honan.
Thanks also go out to Board President John Heaster and Board Members Lauren Erlingheuser and Brighton Lew who attended the event.
