March BHC 2022 Homebuying 101 (Virtual)

Allston Brighton CDC is partnering with the Boston Home Center to host a virtual Homebuying 101 class on the following dates:
Monday, March 28th @ 5-8 PM
Tuesday, March 29th @ 5-8 PM
Wednesday, March 30th @ 5-8 PM
Each class will be a Zoom Webinar.
Funding for these services is provided by the City of Boston through its Department of Neighborhood Development, Michelle Wu, Mayor, Sheila A. Dillon, Chief and Director. Classes designated as Boston Home Center are classes targeted towards City of Boston residents, although anyone can register for these classes. They will include presentations and information regarding Boston-specific homebuying programs, in addition to the standard content presented in every Homebuying 101 class. Fees for Boston Home Center classes are $30 per City of Boston resident and $45 per non-resident.
Homebuying 101 is a 9-hour course, covered over 3 sessions. Topics covered include:
- Budgeting, Savings & Credit
- Obtaining a Mortgage
- Housing Search
- The Legal Aspects of Buying a Home
- Home Inspection
- Home Insurance
- Down Payment Assistance Programs
Graduates of this course receive a certificate that grants access to down payment assistance, Mass Housing Partnership’s ONE Mortgage, MassHousing mortgages, HUD mortgages, home ownership lotteries, and lender first time homebuyer mortgages. The certificate is accepted statewide for first time homebuyer education and is valid for 3 years.
You must attend all three sessions in order to receive your certificate of completion. By taking this class you also have access to unlimited one-on-one pre-purchase counseling sessions at Allston Brighton CDC to assist you through your personal homebuying experience.
