Allston Brighton CDC is holding a virtual Homebuying 101 class on the following dates:

Saturday, October 29 @ 9AM-2PM
Saturday, November 5 @ 9AM-2PM

Each class will be a Zoom Webinar. 

Homebuying 101 is a 9-hour course, covered over 2 sessions. Topics covered include:

  • Budgeting, Savings & Credit
  • Obtaining a Mortgage
  • Housing Search
  • The Legal Aspects of Buying a Home
  • Home Inspection
  • Home Insurance
  • Down Payment Assistance Programs

Graduates of this course receive a certificate that grants access to down payment assistance, Mass Housing Partnership’s ONE Mortgage, MassHousing mortgages, HUD mortgages, home ownership lotteries, and lender first time homebuyer mortgages. The certificate is accepted statewide for first time homebuyer education and is valid for 3 years.

Registration for the class is $50/person. By registering for the class, you are registering for two (2) sessions. You must attend both sessions in order to receive your certificate of completion. By taking this class you also have access to unlimited one-on-one pre-purchase counseling sessions at Allston Brighton CDC to assist you through your personal homebuying experience.


Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation (ABCDC) is a HUD-approved, nonprofit housing counseling agency. ABCDC offers financial and educational resources which enable low- and moderate-income people from Allston Brighton, Greater Boston and beyond to purchase homes. The Homeownership & Counseling Programs have a Seal of Approval from CHAPA’s Homeownership Collaborative, a collaboration of non-profit homebuyer counseling agencies, lending institutions, real estate professionals, government officials, and other key players in the homeownership industry in Massachusetts.

 

Homebuying 101 is a 9+ hour course that covers the entire home buying process from beginning to end. The course provides a valuable educational opportunity for participants to learn about the homebuying process and the financial and legal responsibilities associated with owning a home. Participants receive expert advice on the things you need to know from trusted real estate professionals as we take you through each step of the process. HB101 equips graduates with knowledge and resources to make informed choices about an important life decision. Graduates will have an idea of which documents to get ready and will know what to expect during the mortgage application and closing process. Graduates will also gain access to municipal down payment assistance programs and first-time homebuyer loan products offered by Massachusetts Housing Partnership, MassHousing, and many others, if eligible.

You must attend all scheduled sessions to receive your certificate of completion. If you cannot attend the class you may transfer your registration to any future HB101 class, but we do not offer refunds. Please double-check your email address for accuracy and look for an auto-generated confirmation email that could end up in your spam/junk folder.

Allston Brighton CDC (ABCDC) reserves the right to use any photograph/video taken at any event sponsored by ABCDC without the expressed written permission of those included within the photograph/video.
