Working together, building community

Brighton Allston Apartments is 60-unit scattered-site rental property located on Commonwealth Avenue in Allston and Washington Street in Brighton. These buildings were built in the early to mid-1900s and the properties were acquired by ABCDC in 1996. The goal of combining the ownership of these properties were part of an effort to connect the two neighborhoods and to maximize and customize the availability of low-income housing tax credits towards the building rehabilitation at the time.

When these buildings were originally acquired, they were both in a state of disrepair. ABCDC acquired the property to rehabilitate the units and preserve them as affordable housing. Both buildings underwent considerable repairs in 1997 to update this important source of affordable housing and ensure the safety and comfort of the residents.

The bulk of the homes in the Brighton Allston Apartment buildings are two-bedroom units and provide opportunities for families to reside in well-maintained, stable housing located in transportation-friendly locations at both the Allston and Brighton sites.

Work is now underway to develop a scope of energy conservation work at the site aimed at not improving the efficiency of the mechanical systems at the site but improving the comfort level of the residents who call the Allston Brighton Apartments home.
