Working together, building community

Real Estate

Our Real Estate Work

Increasing the supply of safe, decent, and affordable housing is an integral part of Allston Brighton CDC’s mission. Since 1980, we have developed 553 homes for low- and moderate-income renters and first-time homebuyers. We know that 553 units isn’t nearly enough, so we continue to work on ways to increase affordable rental housing and homeownership in the area, so our neighbors can stay in the community they love.

Through strong asset and property management, we maintain the physical and financial health of the properties we own so that they can continue to be affordable homes for community members. Allston Brighton CDC works with property and asset managers to ensure long-term productivity and stability in our properties and monitor compliance with funding sources and regulators. We are committed to making meaningful improvements to our buildings to help reduce energy use, save money for families, and create a healthy and sustainable living environment for these residents and the greater community.

Our Properties

Through our real estate efforts, we are creating opportunities for families and individuals who want to live in the area and enjoy all the amenities this neighborhood has to offer.

Our portfolio provides residents of Allston Brighton convenient access to critical community assets like public transportation, jobs, healthcare, their families, and more. Residents can choose to stay local and access nearby amenities, like local parks, restaurants, and art and music venues, or, whether they walk, bike, drive, or take public transit, be in downtown Boston or Harvard Square in no time.

Green Energy Upgrades

Allston Brighton CDC has made a commitment to pursuing green technologies at our properties to not only reduce the environmental impact of development, but to create healthy homes for low-to-moderate income (LMI) residents. ABCDC’s current goal is to decarbonize its entire affordable housing portfolio by 2040, 10 years before the City of Boston’s goal of achieving net zero emissions in all its existing buildings. Electrifying and upgrading our existing buildings is not easy, nor inexpensive, but ABCDC is committed to tackling the challenge head on! Learn more about our commitment to decarbonization today.
