Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation

Working together, building community

Dear friends,

This Giving Tuesday, I know I am thankful for the amazing supporters who have helped us make 2023 a year of progress in Allston Brighton. Without this strong community full of organizations, neighborhood leaders, and elected officials, ABCDC would not be able to accomplish nearly as much work as we have been able to this year.

2023 has been a productive year for our real estate development work. This October, we completed construction at our 6 Quint Avenue project in collaboration with countless project partners. This property was an existing Licensed Lodging House building that was renovated and converted into 14 units of permanently affordable supportive housing units for extremely low-income individuals advancing through the addiction recovery process. This project represents a unique and important opportunity to create long-term, deeply affordable rental opportunities made available to individuals striving to rid themselves from the burden of substance abuse and to restore their independence in a supportive setting. We look forward to gathering in early 2024 to celebrate the completion of this property!

While the completion of the construction phase at 6 Quint Avenue represents the first addition to our portfolio of affordable housing since 2007, our team is not slowing down any time soon. Construction at the Carol Avenue apartments started this September, representing the culmination of a $23 million financial transaction that will address significant capital repairs at the 33-unit family housing development.  Pre-development work also continues for the planned renovation projects at Ashford Street, Hano Homes, and Brian J. Honan which are all on the horizon to begin construction next year. At the same time ABCDC continues to pursue new development opportunities at the Hill Memorial Baptist Church site and at the Warren Hall Apartments.

This year, I hope you will consider making a donation to support the creation and preservation of affordable homes. We know that housing is the foundation for prosperity and with your support, we will continue working towards creating safe, stable, and affordable homes for all.

Thank you for all that you do to make Allston Brighton great!

With gratitude,
