Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation

Working together, building community

As ABCDC’s Community Engagement staff is continuing work on the Allston Brighton Needs Assessment, our Community Ambassadors have been instrumental in helping to engage our neighbors. Community Ambassadors work with our staff to create deep and comprehensive engagement through door-knocking and one-on-one conversations with community members. They act as leaders in the neighborhood, and empower their neighbors to make their voices heard!

Over the next month, ABCDC is going to highlight these Community Ambassadors to not only introduce them to the community, but to put a spotlight on their hard work to engage and empower Allston Brighton residents. First up, we sat down with our Ambassador Devin Dattolico (she/her/hers) to learn more about why she decided to participate in this program!

How did you originally get involved with the Allston-Brighton community/community engagement in general?

I’ve lived in Boston for 10 years and specifically in Brighton for the last 2. This neighborhood is the most “at home” I’ve felt in Boston.

Why did you choose to become a community ambassador for the ABCDC?

I am currently studying public health and have had extensive coursework on community engagement and community health needs assessments. I was so excited to explore both of those aspects in my own community.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Yoga, pickleball, you’ll always find me at the Brighton Commons farmers market on Wednesdays!
